WHARF LABOURERS' STRIKE.

WANG AN UI, Last Night.

The wharf lumpers "at Patea struck work this morning for higher wages. They have recently joined the Waterside Workers' Union, and ask for rates of pay ruling in other centres, namely, Is 6d per hour, 2s 6d overtime., also half-holiday on Saturdays. • They refused to work the three steamers in port, the Aorere, Man a and Kapiti, unless their demands were acceded to. The officers and crews discharged ana loaded ;-tho cargo, the vessels getting out of port without any hindrance. The demands so far have not been acceded to.
