WAINGAWA MEAT WORKS.
The opening of the Waingawa meat works, yesterday marks an epoch in the industrial history of the Wairarapa. So far as the settlers of the district are concerned, no enterprise of sucli magnitude has been previously attempted. The , promoters of the Company have, had many obstacles to contend with, and tho overcoming of these is a striking testimony to their business acumen and persistency. The value of the works to Masterton can hardly be over-estimated. s The annual wages bill alone will be very considerable, and it is safe to say that a large proportion of this amount will be expended with local tradespeople.
