MASTERTON SWIMMING CLUB.

OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE SEASON. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Wairarapa Amateur Swimming Club, he!d in the secretary's office last evening, the final arrangements were made in connection with the opening events to be , swam in the Park Lake this evening, at 6 o'clock. Tv.o handicap races will be competed in over i J stances of 66yds and 100 yds respectively. If, there are more than keven starters a second prize will be donated. Post 1 entries will be received; nomination fee Gd in each event. The officers taking charge of the events areJudges, Messrs Crosbie, Cullen, Snowball and Eddy; starters, Messrs/ A. D. Gillies, and B. Claysonjj timekeeper, and handicapper, Mr J. A, McEwen; costume steward. Mr F. B. Rosson; secretary to receive nominations at the post, Mr J.' Georgeson. From the enquiries already being made it is expected there will be representative good entries and keen competition m the events. The natrons and public, who so willingly assist in encouraging this excellent and beneficial form of sport, are very cordially invited to he present this evening. The Masterton Municipal Band has most kindly agreed to be present in the Park during the evening and render a few selections, which will greatly assist in enlivening die proceedings.
