4. A NEW MOTOR FIRE REEL. ( WANG AN UI, December 7. The Wangamri Volunteer Fire Brigade to-day received from Messrs Mcrryweather and Sons, London, a new motor fire reel. The cost is very nearly £IOOO. The engine combines a 42-horse power motor, with chemical fire extinguishing apparatus, hose and ladders. In addition to a cylinder containing 35-gallons of fire-ex-tinguishing liquids, there are two small portable extinguishers carried. The hose reel will carry 1000 feet of hose, but more can be stored elsewhere. The ladders are long and are carried overhead. Everything is fitted out. conveniently, and is thoroughly well-made. The machine is the first t<> be imported to tK<r Dominion.
