MR HOGG AND THE GOVERNMENT.
The member for Masterton stated emphatical'y in the House. of Representatives on Friday that the Government no longer enjoyed the confidence of the country. If Mr Hogg is right, how can he consistently continue to &it in tho House as a supporter of the Government ? He stood at the last election as - a follower of Sir Joseph Ward. He was returned as such, and Avent so far as to accept a Ministerial portfolio. If the Government has forfeited the" confidence of the country, how can Mr Hogg continue to support it? And if he cannot conscientiously follow the party he was returned to support, it is obviously his duty to tender his resignation. Under existing conditions the electorate, as well as Mr Hogg; is in a false position.
