MASTERTON'S NEW COURTHOUSE.
DELAY IN ACCEPTING TENDERS.
A good deal of. has been occasioned by the delay in the acceptance of tenders for the new Courthouse at Masterton. Enquiries made by a representative of the Age go to show that after the plans had been prepared and tenders called, the Masterton Borough Council passed a resolution requesting that the new building be set back 33ft from the sids of the street, to bring it into line with the Technical School. The depth of the section would not permit this being done on the existing plans, and the Department is now considering whether it will prepare fresh plans, or make alterations to those upon which tenders were called. Questioned upon the subject yesterday, His Worship the Mayor, Mr J. M. Coradine, stated that the resolution of the Borough Council was simply in the form of a suggestion. 'lhe Council did wish to cause delay, but thought that the plans might be slightly altered to permit of the building being brought into line with the Technical School.
