COW-TESTING ASSOCIATIONS.
FOUR IN ACTIVE OPERATION.
The Director of Dairy Produce reports that four cow-testing apsouations are now in active operation viz.. Dalefield, Kaupokonui, Cam' bridge, and Stratfoid. The response to the Department's scheme for the opening up of ttis work has been very enthusiastic on the p,irt of the settlers, and numerous applications have been received for similar associations to be started in other districts extending from the far North of Auckland to the West Coast of the South island. Almost daily letters of inquiry are received with regard to the movement, the interest manifested by the settlers being largely due to the fact that a cow-testing association was commenced and carried through successfully by this Division during last season. There is every prospect of the associations now in existence doing a great deal of good to the farmei'3 in the districts where they have been established. It is more than likely that one or two of the dairy companies in the North Island will follow the example of the Department this .year, and carry on the testing of the individual cows for their suppliers, or as many of them as care to take part in the scheme.
