PROPOSED BACON FACTORY.
The agreement come to on Wednesday between the Wellington Farmers' Meat Company, on the one part, and the representatives of the dairy industry 011 the other, will, it is confidently expected, be to the mutual advantage of both. The dairy farmers of the Wairarapa are beginning to recognise that, with the adoption of modern methods for the prevention of disease, the raising of pigs can be made a profitable adjunct to the dairy industry. The establishment'of a co-operative institution in connection with the Waingawa works will mean that the initial outlay for building and plant will be comparatively small, whilst the profits accruing to the undertaking will be divided amongst the farmers themselves. Judging by the enthusiasm which is being displayed in the project, there is every reason to think that it will bo brought to a successfur issue.
