EVIDENCE OF A FRIEND. Received October 19, 10 a.m. LOjSIDON, October 18. The Court was crowded at the opening of the trial of Hawley Crippen on the charge of murdering his wife. Mr Muir, in opening the case for the prosecu;ion, explained that Crippen had not cohabited with his wife for four years, but had carried on an intrigue with Leneve for three years. Bruce Miller, with whom Crippen had stated his wife had eloped, gave evidence that he had not seen Mrs Crippen since 1904. He admitted that they had been affectionate friends, but denied an improper relationship.
