The first day of the Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting opened at Treiitliam in fine but windy weather. The attendance was fair. Twenty-five bookmakers were licensed, and £9858 passed through the totalisator, as compared wtih £12,344 on the opening day of last year. The results were:— Rimutaka Handicap.
