PERSONAL.

o Among recent callers at the High Commissioner's office, London, was Miss A. Curry, of Masterton. Mr. E. B. M'Donald, teller at the Ekotahuna branch of the Bank of New South Wales, has been transferred to Wellington. A Taihape telegram states that Pat. Donovan ,an old and respected settler, died suddenly yesterday morning at Ruauui.

Mr. .Bray, Apiary Instructor for the North Island, has tendered his resignation. His successor will be appointed shortly. Surgeon-Captain Cook, of the Masterton Mounted Rifles, has been appointed a judge at the forthcoming military tournament to be held at Palmerston North.

Mrs. I. Wilkinson has been appointed sole teacher at the Bideford School; Miss C. Hill, assistant mistress at Mako Mako; and Miss E. Jensen, assistant mistress at Mauriceville West.

Mr. H. J. Murray-Jackson was yesterday appointed to fill the vacancy on the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, caused by the resignation of Councillor Morris. Bros. J. W. Andrews, C.R., and Bro. W. M. Eastliope were last evening appointed uelegates from the , Masterton Rechabite juodge to attend the conference to be held in Napier in February.

Mr. G. Hill, special representative of the British and Continental Piano Company, is at present in Masterton, relieving Mr. J. Lowndes, who has opened a branch at -'chiatua. Mr. Walter B. Baird, son of Mrs. Baird, of Brammerton. Masterton, who went to England four years ago as an, engineer on the Aotea, and, having now passed all his examinations, and qualified as Chief engineer, intends, after a trip to Bermuda and Mexico, to revisit New Zealand.

The death occurred in the Masterton Hospital on Monday of Miss ."Evelyn Reid, fourth daughter of Mr. T. Reid, of Clareviile. The deceased, who was very popular, v,zs a prominent member of ths Hinemoa Hockey Club. At St. Mark's Church, Wellington, on Monday, Mr. G. G. Jackson, eldest son of Mr. G. F. Jackson, Picton, was- married to Miss Hester Robbins, eldest daughter of Mrs. W. H. Robbins, of Masterton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. M. Johnson. Miss Nellie Robbins (sister of the bride) acted as bridesmaid, and -Hi'. Cyril Jackson (brother of the bridegroom) as best man.
