SHEARERS' DISPUTE.

DUNEDIN, Last Night. The shearers' dispute came before Mr. Triggs and the Assessors at a meeting of. the Conciliation Council this morning, in the form of an application by the Otago Shearers' Union for an award governing the wages of shed hands;. The parties were unable to come, to an agreement. Mr. M'Manus, one of the Assessors for the Union, said that if the dispute was unsettled, the squatters might find a difficulty in getting shearers to go out. He charged the sheep-owners of coming to the Council in an unconciliatory spirit. The Commission said that no recommendation are being made by the Assessors, and that the dispute will be referred, to the Arbitration Court.
