THE LAND BILL.
There is considerable speculation thiougliout the Dominion concerning the probable fate of the Land Bill. In some quarters it is thought that the Bill will be so hacked . about bs' the Lands Committee, to whom it has been referred, that it will be unrecognisable when it again comes before the House. In other quarters it is considered that the Prime 'Minister will yield to the pressure of the freeholders on his side of the House and abandon the leasehold clauses of the Bill. Whatever may liappen, there seems to be about as much chance of the Bill reaching the Statute Book this session as there is of the moon turning to cheese.
