DEFYING THE HOUSE.

The Prime. Minister evidently lost his temper after being beaten in a division in the House of Representatives last night. . He stated emphatically that if the House passed a certain resolution it # could get somebody else to give effect to it, as he would not do so. Such a threat as this is wholly undignified, and illbecomes one who is - Prime Minister only at the will of the « people. Things are coming to a pretty pass when the leader of the House threatens to flout the will of the people as expressed through its representatives.
