A PAINFUL FEATURE.

I BERLIN, September : 2a A painful feature of the rets arising out of the engineers' strike was the excesses committed by joung girls, and the worst class of Beilm , females.
The police state that tne rulers attacked all decently dressed persons. Many spirit stores were looted A howling mob scattered the police, two of whom hid in a beJ m a beer shop. The crowd demolished the interior of the place, and finally Wxw-jed the innkeeper rn:l his wife. One policeman, who fired en the mob until'his ammunition had tern exhausted, was discovered later to be desperately wounded. The majority of the rioters v.tre better-class artisans.

A DESPERATE MOB
POLICE USE SABRES
(Received Last Night, at Midnight.) BERLiiN, September 29. Many thousands of factory hands gathered at Moabit. The authorities restricted access to the riot area to residents, and closed the taverns.
The police were provided Avith flares.
The rioters, driven to the inmost recesses of Moabit, filled Embden and Turin streets, yelling, cursing, and throwing stones, whereupon the sabres, of the police were wielded so vigorously that wounded were strewn on both sides of the streets. Others were ridden down, and twenty were conveyed to the Moabit Hospital. One riotei- died from a fractured skull.
A policeman succumbed from knife wounds.
