AMUSEMENTS.

"THE GIRL FROM RECTOR'S."

The new piece, "The Girl From Rector's," a farcical comedy in four acts, adapted from Ihe French by Paul M. Potter, the dramatist of "Trilby," will be presented by Hugh J. Ward's Company of c omedians at the Town Hall to night. Ihe English version is bright and "spic" enough to suit the moat exacting tastes. The play is a veritable Chinese puzzle of amazing complications and wildly, improbable, but irresistibly funny situations. It is almost impossible to describe it coherently, because everything and everybody in it are incoherent. Nearly all ; the characters are leading double lives, and generally deceiving their- spouses and their sweethearts. Any intervals in their spare time are devoted to wriggling out of scrapes and getting into fresh oues. The play is one of the most wildly absurd of farcical comedies, and is hilarious throughout. Mr Hugh J. Ward in supported by the very strongest ,of companies, and 'among the number of favourites who will make a welcome reappearance are Misses Grace Palotta, Celia Ghiloni, Maud Cbetwynd, Messrs Reginald Wykhamra, Aubrey Mallileau, Robert Greig, H. H. Wallace and others. Special scenery has been painted for the production by Mr Harry Whaite, and the ladies of the Company are said to be most gorgeously gowned.
