LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT.

WAIKARaPA AND AUCKLAND DRAW.

Fine weather was experienced a gain to-day for the hockey tourney. The results were—

Wellington A 1 v. Wellington B 0. Ntlson 1 v. Wangarui 1. Taranaki 2 v. Westport 1. Auckland 2 v. Wairarapa 2. Hawke's Bay 4 v. Greymouth 0.

In the Wairarapa v, Auckland n.atch, from the bully Miss Z. Hum* phries relieved an Auckland attack, , but Miss Dainea sent well hack to i the Wairarapa quarters. Fast play j up and down the field followed, Auckland being forced down several,times, and Mis 3 McUalmont passing to Miss Z. Humphries, who had a shot. Wairarapa continued to attack, and Miss Z. Humphries centring, Mis 3N. O'Leary had a shot, just missing the net. Miss P. Ashton then hit into the Auckland goal, and Mies C. Easthope following up scored. Auckland then livened up, and Miss Probert evened scoies with a good shot. Auckland continued to press, and Miss Kenny had a shot. Clever passing by Misses Easthupe and Ashton was nullified by hard hitting, and give and take play followed. On changing ends play was taken to Wairarapa quarters by Miss Steel, whose shot was saved by Miss Chapman. Auckland continued pressing until Misses Abbott and Kenny looked darperous. Misses Ashton and Z. Humphries then took play to Auckland terri- , tbry. A forward rush relieved, and a. shot bv Miss Abbott was splendidly saved by Miss I. Muir. Wairarapa then rushed play to the Auckland circle, Miss Ross relieving with a fine bit, which was returned by Miss Z Humphr :?■ A fine centre by Miss A. O'Leary saw Miss Easthope shoot a good goal. Later Miss Probert missed a good chance to score, Miss R. Humphries saving. Then followed a period of fast play, Auckland being mainly on the attack, good defensive work being dune by Misses N. O'Leary and Z. Humphries. Auckland continued to have the better of play. At the finish Auckland were pressing hotly, and just on the call of time Miss Maris Clark: shot a splendid goal from just inside the circle—Auckland 2, Wairarapa 2.
