WHICH DESTROYS SOIL FERTILITY.

I Received Last Night, 11.25 o'clock. LONDON, Septeniuer 6. At the British Association meetißg, DrS Russell and Hutchinson announced the discovery of a microorganism which destroys the bacteria essential to the fertility o a soil. Thej said that untreated soil contained 6,000,000 bacteria par gramm:, but attar treatment the soil contained oftsn as many as 60,000>000. An antiseptic auch as "Toluene" would kill the micro-organism. Mr A. D. Hall, President of the Agricultural Section, described the discovery as the most important since thi3 fixation of nitrogen.
