OBITUARY.

MR MIUHAEL M'GRATH. ' The sad cable news was received in Masterton yesterday by Mrs McGrath of the death of nar husband, Mr Michael McGrath, the well, known trainer, of Masterton, which occurred"at his sister's residence, "Ballyriateen," Waterford, Ireland, on Sunday morning. The news came as a great shock to the deceased's relatives here, as when he left New Zealand last April for a trip to the Old Country, ha was in the best of health and spirits. In sporting circles his death will be keenly felt, as he was a most successful trainer and owner, and a true and

popular sportsman in every way. The deceased was well connected, and his death occurred at the family home, "Ballyristeen." His brother, Canon McGrath, is at Home, and it will be remembered that another brother, Father McGrath, died in Wellington recently. Mr Maurice McGrath, the well known contractor, is also a brother. The deceased leaves a wife, six sons and two daughters to moarn their loss. The sons are Messrs Maurice, Thomas, Michael, Oweu,' Peter and William. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will bd extended to the family in their sad bereavement. The late Mr McGrath was 57 years of age at the time, of his death.
