HOTELS IN TOWN DISTRICTS.
There is something wrong with the Town Dlßtricts Act, which permits Town Boards to collect only £ls per year in license fees from hotels. In boroughs the fee is £4O per annum. The Prime Minister says he intends putting the matter right this session. But will he ? He refused to make the necessary amendment to the Town Boards Bill when this was in committee, and he may not have a chance when the Licensing Bill is brought down. We say "when" advisedly, because it is freely stated that the prospects of licensing legislation this session are exceedingly remote.
