COMPLIMENTARY SOCIAL.

IN FIRE BRIGADE STATION.

A complimentary social was held in the Masterton Fire Brigade shed last evening, being tendered the local Fire Brigade prior to removing to their now station. Mr D. Pickering presided over a large attendance of members of the Veteran Fire Brigades Association and guests. Apologies were received from Vice-Presidents J. Prentice and J. Symes, and ex-Captains W. Dixon And C. Payne. The following toasts \rere duly honoured:— "The King," chairman; "Fire Board," Mr P. Gilbert—Superintendent T. Jenkins; U.F.8.A., H. E. Gardner—H. Selby, W. Braggins; "Fire Brigade," chairman - Sub. Superintendent Pickering and Secretary Pragnell; "Old Boys' Association," Superintendent T. Jenkins—R. B. Church, A. Gardner,and P. C. Reynolds; "Press," chairman—P. Gilbert; "Ladies," C. O'Leary—H. Selby, Hubbard. The following contributed in songs, recitation, etc., towards the evening's programme:—Messrs E. E. MeEwen, BEwington, G. Clifford, C. A. Ewington, P. C. Reynolds, E. Hooper, B. Gardner, H. Selby, J. Hanley, J. P. Thompson, and others. Mr. J. Kite presided at the piano. A resolution was passed sympathising with the members (of which there arc four) who are laid aside by sickness, also expressing a wish for their speedy recovery.
