ESTIMATE OF CASUALTIES
MUCH DISTRESS.
Received Last Night, 9.30 o'clock. TOKIO, August 16. Some idea of the extent of the | damage caused by the recent disastrous floods in Japan can now be gained. Official estimates gives the number of drowned as 1112. One hundred and fifty thousand houses were stroyed. The number of persons "receiving relief in Tokio alone is 200,000.
