FARM LABOUR.
The question of importing farm labour has been discussed in New Zealand for some time past. It is also being discussed in Canada. A note of warning has been sounded by the Toronto correspondent of the London Times. He points out that it is useless for British people to their sons direct from Oxford and Cambridge to learn farming in Canada. Young men who show no practical adaptability in England cannot be "made" by shipment to Canada any more than they can be "made" by shipment to New Zealand. The method of throwing youths with no practical training upon their own resources in unfamiliar surroundings is cruel and heartless. What is wanted in this counry, as in Canada, are men with some experience and some capital.
