MR ABBOTT IN REPLY.

To the Eiitor.

Sir,-In the interests of fair play and justice I crave a further indulgence of your valuable space in reply to "Bush" and his tirade cf abuse. Although "Bush" is ashamed to publish his name, and says he has no argument with myself (ha being placed at a disadvantage, to use his own words), he sees tit to abuse my name. I do not wish to take an unfair advantage of "Bush," or anyone else. I have not resorted to such tactics hithetto, which is more than "Bush" can say, his letter in to-day's issue. Let me here say to "Bush," that I feel proud of my name, ard the family that bear 3 it, a name that has never appeared on the lists of the Police or Bankruptcy Court. Let me assure "Bush," if he is a small farmer, that he is exempt from the shearers' award, and has no grievance. Secondly, if he can prove his contentions he haa only to disclose his name and he will earn the undying gratitude of all pastoralists. To assist biai, if he will call at my office he can peruke the earning sheets of last season's shearing of'the principal sheds in the North Island, certified to by owner.? and station managers, and he will discover that shearing is not quite eo remunerative as he imagines. In conclusion, I may state that "Bush" has a simple lesson to learn before he can gain the respect of his fellows, viz., that "Abuse is nut argument."—l am, etc., E. WJLMOKE ABBOTT, Sec. Shearers' Union. Masterton, 12th August 1910.
