THE HOCKEY SELECTION.
To the Editor.
Sir,—Mr Iveson S3ys I cannot judge the merits or demerits of players because i am a playing member of the Midu's section, meaning peihaps that i nave not seen any of the girls' matches. I have seen six matches, and that means two-thirds of the teams in the competition in two or more matches. Re ray qualifications, I am a selector of the Carterton Men's Club, which has woj the Senior Championship of Wairarapa every year but one. I was also selector in Wanganui, and I am the coach of the Kia Toa ladies' team of Greytown, whose record is unequalled in any part of the Dominion—they have never Been beaten by any club. Now in the years I have been coaching them and others, surely my methods -of instruction must show, by the results attained, that I have knowledge of the game and players' capability, ar.d therefore enough to criticise, even though 1 live at present in "village" Carterton.—l am, etc., RALPH V. KING.
