The Chief Justice of Samoa, who is at present on a visit to Australia, states that the affairs of the islands are flourishing. Rubber growing is being extensively undertaken, and the finest tappings for export purposes will be made this year. The copra output is steadily increasing since the Germans took possession of Samoa and compelled the natives to systematically plant new cocoanut palms. 'l'le cocoa crop promises to be a record one, and tht> indentured Chinese labour was found to answer the purpose.
