A "shoot" was held yesterday afternoon by the local Gun Club for trophies presented by the Colonial Ammuntion Company, Auckland, and Mr W; Howard Booth. There was a good muster of competitors and some good shooting was indulged in. Mr J. S. Laurenson won the first prize, a rifle, and Mr J. Warrington was second, securing a pipe and case. It is understood that Mr Booth intends giving another (trophy for competition. |
At a meeting of the Foresters' Lodge last evening, Bros. H. H. Armstrong and C. Moore were reelected del-Rates to the Friendly Societies' Council, "in the card tourna ment, the I'oresters' defeated the Oddfellows by 43 games to 34.
On the Recreation Ground this afternoon the local bakers and butchers defeated the Masterton followers of the trade by 11 points to 7in a friendly game of football. The losing team had to "stand good" for a dinner held at the Marquis of Normanby Hotel in the evening. Members of the Hinemoa Ladies' Hocbey Club held a practice this afternoon in view of the seven-a-side tourney next week.
