RAID OK A CARLIST CLUB.
ONE HUNDRED AND FIFJYTWO ARRESTS.
Unite 1 Piosa Association—By Electrio Tclegrap Copytigh Received August 9, 9 a.m. MADRID August 8. r i he San Sebastian police raided a Carlist Club at midnight on Saturday i and arrested 152 persons —including nineteen priests—who were shouting seditior. A cable message in Sydney on Ist inst. stated —"The Vatican officials take the darkest view of tbe situation, not only in Spain, but in Portugal also. They think that the extreme parties of both countries, aided hy foreign elements, are endeavouring to overthrow their respective monarchies, with the object of uniting the Iberian Peninsula under republican rule. In some quarters the hope has been expressed that Don Jaime, tho Pretender, wi I raise the Cariist flag, and vindicate Catholicism."
