5 CALCUTTA, August 8. 2 1 The authorities are very reticent 'regarding the Bengal conspiracy. | The arrests were effrctcd in every ' quarter of the province, and include Pulin Beharcies, who was d«pcrted, but was released in February last. It is reported that a cartridge making machine hag been seized. The conspirators are charged with offences undar tha Arms Acts, and with wasting war against the Emperor. Documents have been discovered, which suggest that the conspiracy aimed at the subversion of British rule, and show that the trouble is | affecting every province. The Legislative Council, sittirg at Simla, renewed the Seditious Meetings Act till March, 1911, despite eight non-official members opposing it. The Viceroy, the Earl of Minto, : intimated that his successor's (Fir ' Charles Hardinge'e) CounciljWill re- ' consider the whole problem. '
