MASTERTON'S NEW MAGISTRATE.
WELCOMED BY BENCH AND BAR. Mr L. G. Reid, S.M , took his seat ou the Bench at Masterton for the first time yesterday morning. There w,a a large gathering of representatives of the bench and bar, including Messrs A. R. Bunny, C. A. Pownall, P. L. Boilings, 0. Pragj nell. G. H. Cullen, H, C. L. Robir.- | son, R. K, Jackson, J. Coradine, D. [K. Logan. C. Bruce Morison, of [ Welhrgton, and Dr. Trimblr. The Bench waa represented by Messrs G. Heron antl J. Cross, J.'sP. Mr A. R. Bunny, senior member of the local lsgal profession, welcomed Mr Reid to the district, and congratulated him upon his appointment to the Magisterial bench. Mr Reid had held an important position in the Department of Justice, which should qualify him tor the responsible duties he was mw undertaking. Mr Bunny assured the Magistrate that he would have the support of every member of the Bar in the carrying cut of his onerous duties. Mr Reid said that he very much appreciated the kindly reception accorded to him. He had been told, when be accfpted the position, that he would receiva every support from the Bar of Masterton, and from the assurances just given he was sure he would not be disappointed. He would do his best to earn the confidence of members of Bar, and would dispense justice to the best of his ability.
