A CURIOUS CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jane 22. A curious case engaged the attention of the Lyttelton Court tc day, when the licensee of an hotel, who also owns a steam trawler, was charged with having paid wages to the master on licensed premises. For the defence, it was contested that the provision in Ihe Licensing Act was iutended to apply to manual labourers, and on this ground the information in respect to master and mate were dismissed. In each of the other two cases the defendant was fined £1 and costs.
