THOMPSON—PAYNE PICTURES.

The st'endance at the Foresters' Hail last night was-well above the average, and the excellent programme was worth the patronage extended The pictures are of a very high order, and first class samples ot tne cinematographer's art. The scenic subjects are exceptionally good, particularly "Sydney and its Environs," including charming views of Farm Cove and Circular Quay, with its wealth of shipping, and a beautiful view of George Street from the top of s tram car. These views are interesting to those who have not been able to aee the Queen City of the Southern Hemisphere, and bring many recullections to those who have been more tortuti* ate, "Winter Sports in Denmark" is a typical winter scene with ita attendant bevy of skaters and others indulging in their; favourite pastimes, such as tobogganing, ski jumping, ice yachting, etc. "A Wedding in Sumatra" shows the quaint customs and ceremonies that have to be negotiated during the marriage ceremony in th'e island. "Roosevelt in Africa" the various kinds of ammals'to be met with in the African jungles. This pictuie was taken by Mr Cherry Kearton, who accompanied the ex-President of the United States of America on this memorable trip. Among the dramatic subjects "Rogues of the Turf" must ba assigned first place. It is a sporting story of a bookmaker wtiose efforts to cripple the favourite in a big race, lead to some very exciting incidents. The race is depicted in a finitrhed manner, and the subsequent arrest of the plotter v k as loudly applauded. The comic element is supplied by that wonderful acrobatic comedian, "Foolshead on Skates," and several other fi ms of high merit. This series will be shown for the last time to-night. On Thursday a complete change will be produced, including "Paulhan's Aeroplane Flight from London to Manchester."
