ARNST DEFEATED.

THE PARRAMATTA HUNDRED. WON BY F. MATTERSON. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph Copyright. Received May 15, 6.55 p.m. SYDNEY, May 14. Following is the result of the Parramatta Hundred:— G. Matterson 2, T. Towns 3. Arnst finished fourth.

RecHived May 15, 5 p.m. SYDNEY, May 15. As aMicipated the concessions Arnst had t) make to his opponents in the Parramatta Hundred proved too great, the winner, F. Matterson, receiving 61 sec. [jG. Matterson 36 sec, and Town 3 603ec. The perfe* t smoothness of the water also militated somewhat against the champion, but he rowed a magnificent race, covering the mile in smin 5 uecs, two miles in I2min, and the full course in 15min 12sec.

The winner soon established a good lead, passing the mile three lengths ahead of Towns, with Arnst fast making up the leewa;/. The cham pion shot past Fogwell at the Gasworks, and before reaching the two miles overhauled Felton and Kemp. At Cabarita, Matterson led Zeitch and Towns by four lengths, Gr Matterson handy, and Arnst fifth. All spurted g r andly at the finish. Matterton getting home by two lengths ahead of his brother, who finished almost on 7 even terms with Towns, and Arnst a length behind. Time, 16 min 17sec.

The Scullers' Handicap went to G. Witchard from a 75 seco:.d3 start, Simpson filling second place, and P. Kemp junr. third.
