PAHIATUA NEWS.

Own Correspondent. Friday. Mr G. A. Burgess, who has been attending Ihe annual communication of the New Grand Lodge of Freemasons, returner! to Pahiatua this afternoon.

The committee of the Woodlanda Hunt Club have decided to poslpone the run to-morrow, and ala> the run on the following Wednesday out of respect to his late Majesty. Mr E. Darley, the representative of the Bush Rugby Union, to the New Zealand Rugby Union, returned to Pahiatua to-day.

The Naw Zealand Union has made another grant to further the objects of school football, and Mr Darley informs me that the Union will receive a very substantial grant. A movement is on foot to entertain Mr E. Hughes prior to hi 3 departure for Hawke's Bay, where he has purchased an extensive propsrty. It is intended to present Mr Hughes with a suitable memento as a mark of esteem from his friends.

Messrs P. E. Debreceny and Co, have just imported a splendid line of bedsteads straight frcm the manufacturers from Birmingham. The line is worthy of inspection. STOCK REPORT.

M<£srs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their weekly sale held at Eketahuna or. Friday, 13th inst.:—We offered an average yarding to a small attendance. Bidding for sheep, which were made up of all classes, was slow, but tattle sold well. We quote: Sheep—Two-tooth wether?, 12* 6d; ewe lambs, 10s 6d; wether lambs, to 8s 9d; fat and forward ewes, 10s 9d; f.m. breeding ewes to 6s 9d. Cattle.—Springing heifers, £3 2s 6d, £3 12s, £47s 6d to £5 ss; empty cows and heifers, £3 Is to £4 ss; fat cows, £4 12s 6d; mother reared weaners, £2 Is.
