TE WHARAU NOTES.

Own Correspondent. May 12. The weather the past week has been very wet and boisterous, causing ssrious delay to farmers who are busy with "crutching" operations and other sheep work. Messrs Demon and Ivans, Stock and Rabbit Inspectors, were in this district last week on a tour uf inspection.

Mr M. J. McGregor, of Hikorangi, who has had the honour of bringing the first motor car to this district, motored through from Wanganui last week in his fine new Talbot car.

Mr F. C. H. Cotter has commenced preparations for the building of his new store. When this imposing building is completed it should greatly improve the appearance of our township. Mr Kummer, of "Kummerstein, ' is about to build a larger and more homestead on his property in the "Kaiawhata." Judging by the number of contracts let on the different stations, work should be plentiful in this district during the winter.

Mr Opie, County Engineer, stayed at Te Wharau last night, and is examining some of the roads in the Kaiawhata district.

Mrs J. Mcuregor, of "Auckmore," Wanganui, is at present visiting ie Hiko angi.

Miss Robieson, of Masterton, is staying at "Brackenfiald."' Mr and Mrs Worthington, who have been visiting at "Brackenfield," have left for Napier. The bachelors of Te Wharau purpose holding a Bachelors' Ball in the course of a week or two. -
