At the annual meeting of the Pabintua-Akitio A. and P. Association the other evening, the Chairman (Mr J. C. C oper) congratulated the Society on its financial position. He referred to the assistance that had been accorded the Association by the settlers of the district, and he desired to thank the townspeople and business firms who had generously given donations to the Association's prize fund. Mr (Jooper also referred to thu excellent manner in which the secretary (Mr J. A. Walsh) had carried out his duties, and suggested that a bonus be voted him. The following moMon was then put, and carried unanimously:—"That this meeting of the A. and P. Association have every confidence in their secretary, and that they vote him a bonus of £10."
Mr Edwards Hughes, a popular and well-known resident of this town, who is leaving this district to settle on his newly-acquired property at Wairoa, has disposed of his Pahiatua residence to Mr J. W. Sturton. A meet of the Woodlands Hunt was held at Eketahuna yesterday, but unfortunately through a misunderstanding the number of followers! was not as large as usual. The following were present: —Huntsman G. H. Ranby. on All Gola, A. Vowell on Redwing E. Mead on Ropia, R. Walker on Enchantress, T. H. Murray on Mangavnajre, W. Bicknell on Flirt, R. Byrne on Merry Lance. After the meet a committee consisting of Messrs T. H. Murray, J. Nelson, A. J. Rutherford, R. Walker, Bray, Tumor, Knight, Boyes, George, Bridge, Hughes, Sven, was formed to make arrangements for future meets to be held at Eketahuna.
A committee meeting of the Pahiatua Racing Club will be held in the Commercial Hotel on Tuesday evening, 10th inst., at 8 p.m. Mr b. Hart, of the W.F.C.A.. has disposed of his property in Wakeman street to Mr A. S. Evans. The committee of the Pahiatua Hospital will meet in the Borough Council Chambers on Thursday, lath inst , at 4 p.m.
! , ; The manager of the Rexdale Dairy Company reports that the supply is keeping up, especially considering the lateness of the season, also satisfactory tests are being recorded. It h the intention of the directorate to keep the factory open throughout the winter.
A practice of the Pahiatua football team will be held en the Reserve to-morrow, at 3 p.m. Players are requested to be present in view of the match against Mireaha on the following week. A team from the District High School journeys up to Woodville tomorrow to try conclusions with the Wcodville schoolboys. The following will represent the Pahiatua Hockey Club in afriendly match with Woodville, on the ground opposite the Hospital, at 3 o'clock, tc-day (Saturday)—A. Morrison, C. Davidson, J. Bolton, 0. Clarke, Z. Green, J. Hughes, C. Fairbrother, J. Y. Crawford, F. Bolton, Bargrove, Ulrich.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltc*., report having held their usual weekly sale at Eketahuna on Friday, May 6th:—We had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, but sheep met with a very dragging sale. The quality all through was not-good. Competition for cattle was keen throughout. We quote:—Sheep: Best breeding: ewes, 10s Id to lis; poorer sorts, 53 6d to 7s 9d; empty ewes, 4s 9d to 7s; fat ewes, 10s lid; lambs. 3a 9d to ss' better sorts to 6s 4d, Cattle: Fat cows, £4 7s 6d to £4 15s; cows in calf, £2 17s to £3 2s 6d: dairy cows, £? 15s to £5; springing heifers, £3 to ±'4 ss; empty cows, £2 5s to £2 10s; weaners. 23s to 295; 2 to 2£yr steers, £4 Is to £4 6d.
