A Glee Club has been formed here, and it is proposed to hold practices

every Wednesday evening. A branch of the Church of England's Men's Society is to ba formed in Carterton. Sufficient promise to support has been obtained, and it is proposed to invite the general organiser to come to the town and establish the branch.

A troop of Boy Scouts is bei"g formed at Dalefield with Mr Gordon as scoutmaster. The Carterton patrol of Boy Scouts has arranged to hold a Church Parade on Sunday week, when the troops from Greytown and Featherston will be invited to be present*

At a meeting of the social and dance committee of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge, 1.0.0.P., M.U., last evening, it was decided to hold a social and dance on Thursday, July 7th, to celebrate the centenary of the Order. A strong Isdies' committee was set up, and Messrs L. H. Smart and C. J. De Lacey were appointed joint secretaries. An acknowledgement to the letter sent to him by the Acting-Coroner in Carterton (Mr J. T. M. Hornsby), and the jury in a recent fatal accident through a child's iianneilette nightdress catching fire, has been received from the Minister for Internal Affairs, who states that he quite agrees with the jury. He has handed the letter to the Health Department for a report. A social under the auspices of the Wairarapa No-License League was held last evening, and was very largely attended, visitors being present from all parts of the electorate. | During the proceedings the Rev. Mr Dewdney gave an interesting address on the working of the New Zealand Alliance.

•Mr A. J. Fisher's pen of black Leghorns, which have been competing in the North Island Egg-laying Competition, at Cambridge, have reached their home at Clareville. They look none the worse for their twelve month's absence, and give indication of having been well cared for. During the contest they laid 969 eggs, and thuq gained 37th piaca on the list.
