Thusday.

The Eketahuna Amateur Damatic Club will stage the "Ticket of Leave Man" here next Thursday evening. The proceeds are in aid of the Anglican Church pipe organ fund. At the meeting of the Pahiatua Star-Bowkett Society last night, the ballot resulted in favour of Messrs K. H. and H. T. Polglase, taking £2OO and £IOO respectively free of interest.

The Mayor and Mr Edward Hughes have just returned after spending a week in the Lower Wairarapa deerstalking. They report having very good sport, and brought back two royab and two ten pointers. BALLANCE NOTES.

The metalling of ar. unfinished portion of the Gorge Road has just been completed. This piece of road has in the past been very inconvenient in the winter months, it being at times almost impassable. Settlers will now have a decent outlet.

A branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union has been formed here, with Mr Marriott as chairman, and Mr A. Hickling as secretary. At a meeting last evening Mr Jensen was appointed delegate to attend the coming conference. Tne old School Committee was returned the other evening, with tho exception of Mr J. B. Tait. who did not seek re-election Mr Jensen was elected in his stead.

The milk supply at the butter and cheese factory is keeping up remarkably well. At the butter factory the lowest test is 3.9, and the highest 4.8, while the top test at the cheese factory is 4.7, and the lowest 4. Both factories contemplate running all through the winter. The district is looking very well indeed at present. Stock generally are in good condition, and should be able to weather the winter.
