3l HIS FIELD WORK ENDED.
Received May 3, 10 a.m. LONDON, May. 3. 'The Arctic explorer, Commander
Peary, is in London. Interviewed, he said he had finished his field work, either in the Arctic or Antarctic, and had achieved the <um to which he had devoted twsntvfive years of his life.—
Exploration, he said, in the' Arctic was more difficult than in the Antarctic, because the ice in the Polar Sea broke ®up annually, destroying ail trails and caches, while Antarctic explorers bad a permanent surface to travel over. He' believed Captain Scott would reach the South Pole without much difficulty, unless his crew fell ill ship was wrecked.
