The annual meeting of the Pahiatna Central Branch of the Farmers' Union was held on Saturday last. The following officers were elected for the year:—Chairman, Mr J. C. Cooper; Vice-Chairman, Mr. T. Quirk; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr J. Walsh; Executive Committee, Messrs Quirk, Brechin. Hodgins, Avery, Cornelius, Girdwood, McFarlane, Ross, Neilson, Matthews, Caselberg and Captain Whyte; Delegate to Conference, Mr T. Quirk.
The hairdressing business carried on by the late Mr M. Qtnrke, will in future be managed by Mr B. Doyle, of Eketahuna, a former assistant. The Pahiatua Brass Band rendered a very good programme of instrumental music on the Central Square, yesterday afternoon, to a very large audience of townspeople.
The annual general meeting of the Pahiatua Agricultural Association will be held in the Secretary's office, to-morrow evening, at 8 p.m.
