RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION.

WESTPORT-INaNGAHUA LINE,

By Telegraph—Press Association,

WELLINGTON, May 2.

The Government has accepted tenders for the carrying out of a mile and a half of railway construction on the Westport-Inangahua line. The work is subdivided into six sections, and two years are given to complete each contract.

The Minister for Public Works says no change of policy is involved in the acceptance of private tenders. The work is rock cutting, which it is considered could not be done to advantage by co-operative labour.
