DREDGING.
A PROSPECTING TRIP. Messrs J. Hegsey and D. J. Cam eron returned to Masterton yesterday, after a prospecting trip to the West Coast of the Suuth Island In conversation with an "Age" reporter last evening, Mr Hcsssy stated that several places had been visited, among them biing Cronodun, a district to the north of Reefton. The prospect at this place wss fail ly satisfactory, ' and such as i.i tntrit a small claim being pegged out. The late "Entonies" dietJgc, a private dredge which the party have on their hands, will be erected on the claim. Mr Hi-svey reported that the construction of the Success dredge was well on the way, and the prospectuses will be in Masterton during the coming week. Mr Cameron and Mr' Hessey also did a little prospecting on the Ahaura River, some twenty miles from Greymouth, but owing to the flucded state ■of the river and the cold weather coming on, it was decided to leave the prospecting of this river in abeyance until the early part of next summer. The "Just in Time" Reefing Company, a company in which some Mastertonians are interested in, has just been floated. This company will commence operations as soon as tb.3 necessary machinery is on the ground and erected. Should this company prove successful, Mr Hessey is of opinion that several other companies will be floated for goldmining purposes in the near vicinity of the "Just in Time" claim.
