PAHIATUA NEWS.
Own Correspondent. Friday. The town and district is in a ferment of excitement over the escapades of the escapee Powelka. A rumour was current in town this morning that he had been captured at Konini, but on investigation proved groundless. Several golfers are down on the links every afternoon. There is a chance of the links being changed from the racecourse to a property nearer town. A football match, the first of the season, is to be played at Kohunui tomorrow (Saturday), between teams representing Mangatainoka and Kohunui.
