RACING-
TURF NuTES,
"By Zetland."
The Wellington Winter Meeting will be concluded to-day. Trie ac- i ceptances received are sufficiently large for turt patrons to reasonably expect good racing to eventuate. I With six contestants in the Hurdles, I of one mile and a-half, considerable j interest will bs shown in the meet- i iog of Gold Bird and Longner, as both horses received their jumping education as members of H. Fletcher's Tauherenikau stable. The Autumn Handicap, one mile and a quarter, will bring out a field of about nine, and Equitas, Effort, Di-, abolo, Lady Medallist, Bridge, Osiris and Cronstadt, will be strongly supported. The issue is a very open one. The Pacific Handicap should result in a good finish between the t|iree top weights, and among those lower in the list King Soult may run prominently. The Surburban Handicap, of six furlongs, will set backers a puzzle when such fast ones as North East, Tumut Kilindini, Perle d'Or, Sharpshooter, and Gipsy Belle, are among thu,se that will face the starter. The track will be very fast to-day, and as a strong pace will be set in most of the events, the bestconditioned performers wis I be worth following.
