HOCKEY.
A meeting of Knox Hockey Club was held last evening, Mr J. Gray presiding. The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the advisability of entering two* senior teams for the Cup competition. After the matter had been thoroughly discussed by the members present, it was decided to nominate two senior teams for the championship. About three more members are required for the full complement of the two teams, but no doubt, as such keen enthusiasm is already being shown in Masterton this season amongst followers of hockey the required number will soon be forthcoming. A match was arranged with the Post and Telegraph team for Thursday next at 2.30 sharp, on the Lansdowne ground. All members are requested to be on the ground punctually. The members of S. Matthew's Hockey Club met last evening to make final arrangements for the ensuing season. It. was decided to hold harrier runs every Monday evening, last night's run, the first of the season, being over a course of abjat two mile>?. The run was in the direction of Manaia, anr 1 a large number of members turned out. The practice mornings for the season were fixed as Monday and Wed esaay.
