BOWLING.

A largejiumber of players took advantage of the fine afternoon on Saturday last, to indulge in their favourite pastime of bowling. The green was in good order, and several gamesvV. were well contested. Two club petitions were played. In the Champion Teams Match, Gordon, McEwen, Rigg and J. Hunter (skip), 27, beat Staples, Kose, Cresswell, and 0. Pragnell (skip) 20. In the early part of the game, the winners had a decided lead, and although Pragnell's team played a fine uphill game, they could not overtake their opponent's , score. For the "Pennants," Wilkes, Cave, Ashton, and C. Ewington (skip), beat J. Smith, Mcßae, Harrison, and C. Perry (skip), by the narrow margin of one point, the scores at the conclusion of the game) being Ewington 20, Perry 19. Thii| game was also interestnig, as thjf teams were composed of player who generally do not take part in these competitions, but notwithstanding this the play was full of merit, and only goes to prove that some of the junior members are equal in play to a number of the seniors. What could possibly be more pleasing to a senior bowler than watching Messrs A. W. Cave, F. Harrison, Mcßae, and others placing bowl after bowl on or neat the jack, and the older players, endeavouring to dislodge the bowls, but failing? f-
