It is stated that the mine-owners have forwarded a letter to Judge SchoJes, President of the Wages Board, definitely stating that they are not prepared to agree to a settle• ment on the lines suggested'by Mr Charlton, the men's representative, and that so far as they are concerned tha negotiations are at an end. Judge Scholes declined to make any announcement on the subject.
