HOCKEY MEETINGS.
S. MATTHEW'S. In S. Matthew's Schoolroom last evening, Rev. H. Watson presided over a meeting of over twenty players who had been called together to consider the advisability of forming a hockey rlub. After considerable discussion it was decided to enter a senior and two junior teams for the Wairarapa Hockey Association's fixtures, and in the event of Saturday hockey being started to enter a team in that competition also. ■ The officers for the year were elected as follow:—President, Rev. H. Watson; Vice-President, Rev. W.Raine; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr A. J. Berry; Management Committee, Messrs W. Hendry, C. Cole, N. Boyd, A. Wheeler, C. Voyce and officers ex officio. Delegates to Association, Messrs N. Boyd and A. Berry; Social Committee (to arrange ways and means of raising £lO for the English team), Mrs Claughton, Misses Boyd and Finnis, and Messrs N. Boyd and A. Berry. Messrs R. Hatch, N. Boyd, C. Cole, and W. Hendry were appointed to arrange the teams and select the men for the first match, the different teams to appoint their own captains and selection committees on the ground. The colours for the senior and "A" junior team were fixed at green and white jerseys with white pants, and for the "B" junior team black jers Q y with white collar and pants. Messrs R. Hatch and P. Bennett were appointed a committee to arrange a ground for practice, the first practice being set down for Thursday 17th. The annual subscription was fixed at 5s for senior and 2s 6d for junior players. A resolution was passed, "That tbe management committee find ways and means of making all the jerseys the property of the club." The.first Harrier run will be held on Monday evening.
KNOX. The Knox Hockey Club held their annual meeting last evening, Mr J. Gray presiding over a good attendance. The retiring secretary, Mr W. Hornblow, read the annual report and balance sheet (the latter showing a credit), which were adopted. Officers as follow were elected: — Patron. Mr J. Macara; President, Rev. McDonald: Vice-Presidents, Messrs A. W. Hogg, H. T. Hume, A. Henderson, J McGregor senr., and Or Cowie: Captain, J. Gray; Vice-Cnptain, H. Donald; Secretary, A. Dixon; Selection Committee. J. Gray, H. Donald. J. V. Gordon; Management Committee, Messrs Tocker r ßeyn Ids an'i Griffiths,and officers ex offiei'i; Delegates to Association, Messrs H. Donald and A. Dix »n. It was decided that the subscription be ss, the same as last season, and tu enter a senior team only for this season's competitions this year. Practice will commence at Lansdowne on Saturday next.
W.f'.C.A. The annual meeting of the W.F.C.A. Club will be held in Rank in's KooniH to-night. This club has, in general with the other clubs i-i the Wairarapa, received a decided impetus from the. proposed visit of the Englisn team next year, and will no doubt give a good account of itself this year'
