MASTERTON AMATEUR THEATRICAL SOCIETY.
Combined with the usual weekly rehearsal, a general meeting was held last evening for the purpose of appointing a new Director and Conductor, which position became vacant by Mr G. C. Branson resigning. It was unanimously agreed to secure m the services of Mr George Gray, who is very well known in musical circles It will be remembered that several years ago Mr Gray staged a number of comic operas in this town and in the Valley, among which were "Pinafore," "Pirates of Penzance," and "La Mascotte," in a highly creditable manner. The Society are to be congratulated upon obtaining his services. Mr Gray took command of the baton after the meeting, arid some good work was done. Five new members were elected.
