HOMING PIGEON CLUB.
The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club commenced their young bird iacps yesterday afternoon, with an interva race from Pahiatua, 36 miles by airline. Twelve lofts were represented by one bird each, and they were despatched singly at intervals of ten minutes. Mr P. Gibert kindly made the necesssary arrangements for liberation, and Mr Taylor officiated as liberator. The first and second places were secured by the two youngest members of the club, viz., W. Drake first and A. Ward scond. Mr E. Richards acted efficieii \ / as judge, and the following is ■. e result:—Mr W. Drake's blue en hen "Squills,'' 1,156 yds per minute, 1; Mr A. Ward's red c'i cock "Tuna," 1,146 yds, 2; Mr ,*. JJradbury's blue ch cock "Avalanche," 3. The winner secures Messrs Chamberlain and Son's trophy.
